The Holosun SCS is an auto-adjusting only solar charging sight. It brings the next level of the Solar Failsafe system to red dot users. The SCS uses multiple sensors to accurately adjust the brightness level of the reticle to the correct setting, even when using flashlights!
Most, however, use solar energy to reduce the drain on the battery, not charge it. With the SCRS, you get an optic that runs on solar power and charges an internal battery for use when needed. According to Holosun, the optic will run on solar power and charge the battery simultaneously with enough light. When there is insufficient light to power the optic, it will revert to battery storage. The SCRS collects energy through the top of the optic and charges the battery. [Photo: Jason Mosher]
Dot Lights are generally fine in conditions with stable ambient light. However, if you aim at an area that's darker than your present location, the dot will be too bright against the dark background. For example, standing in a lit room and aiming into a dark bathroom.
