The plant manufactures all battery components up to the product ready for assembly in the car. LG Energy Solution Wroclaw contributes to strengthening Poland’s position as a leader in the EV industry in Europe. Impact Clean Power Technology is a Polish company from Pruszkow, which has been on the market since 2007.
For these reasons, LG Energy Solution has chosen Poland as the primary production base for its global EV battery production system. It built the first battery production plant in Europe and the largest in the world on approximately 1,000,000 square meters of land.
We are pleased to present our report titled “Europe Runs on Polish Lithium-Ion Batteries: The Potential of the Battery Sector in Poland and the CEE Region”. This report was developed with substantial support from market leaders and stakeholders in Poland and Slovakia.
Upon completion, power systems based on lithium-ion cells in technologies will be built in Poland: LTO, LFP and NMC. The planned capacity is to be 16,000 units sequentially in 2024 and 17,000 units from 2025. As a result of the technologies used, the assembly cycle for a single battery will be only 11 min.
It is a challenging task as there are many competitors, given Poland's status as the largest battery exporter in the EU. To leverage the potential of our academia, we require additional public funding. Typically, the EU and the private sector fund the development of new technologies and research, but this approach should be re-evaluated.
