A 5kW solar system is an ideal solar system for residential consumers, such as homes, shops, schools, medical clinics, offices, hotels, restaurants, hostel, PG, banks, ATM, farmhouse, and more. After following the above steps, an expert electrician can install this type of solar system.
It is common for a 5kW solar array (group of panels) to produce only 4kW of power during the middle of the day in summer; this is why most modern solar arrays in Australia are oversized to 6.5kW and coupled with a 5kW solar inverter.
The 5kW solar system has 10 no. of solar panels (SHARK550W Monofacial). We need to make 5 strings of 2 solar panels. You can take reference of below image: Here, you need 4 sq. mm. DC wire to extend wires solar panels to DCDB. The length of 4 sq. mm. dc wire depends on distance between solar panels and dcdb installation area.
If above is correct - I would suggest that the solar pv breaker is seperated from the main consumer unit. Get a small garage board fitted connecting directly into the tails prior to the consumer unit via a henley block. This is isolate the tripping problem from the household circuits.
Had the inverter and Battery installed in August 2022 as a load shedding UPS. Worked like a charm. A bit risky with only a 5kW inverter, but we managed it carefully and tried not to generate peak loads of more that 5kW during load shedding and 6.5kW outside of load shedding. Battery was charging fine when grid power came back and life was lekker.
