A photovoltaic power station, also known as a solar park, solar farm, or solar power plant, is a large-scale grid-connected photovoltaic power system (PV system) designed for the supply of merchant power.
The selection of the most suitable locations for photovoltaic (P V) plants is a prior aim for the sector companies. Geographic information system (G I S) is a framework used for analysing the possibility of P V plants installation . With G I S tools the potential of solar power and the suitable locations for P V plants can be estimated.
Before investment a solar power plant in a specified region, a techno-economic analyse is performed for that power plant by using several meteorological data like solar irradiance and ambient temperature. However, this analyses generally lacks evaluation on effects of climatic and geographical conditions.
The analysis of the performance indicates that solar photovoltaic plants perform well in semi-arid regions, and the best performance is observed in the months of March, April and May. The performance can be further improved if, during designing and installation, care is taken about component efficiency, proper tilt angle and choice of site.
[Show full abstract] Accumulated dust on solar photovoltaic (PV) modules can significantly decrease their energy output in desert environment. Therefore, cleaning the deposited dust on the PV module surface is crucial in engineering applications to maintain the high power output of solar power plants, especially in desert areas.
In this work, 5 years of data of 27 grid-connected photovoltaic power plants are investigated, which are installed on seven different climate types in Turkey. Firstly, the power plants are categorized considering the tilt angles and Köppen–Gieger climate classification.

They are different from most building-mounted and other decentralized solar power because they supply power at the utility level, rather than to a local user or users. Utility-scale solar i…
