Battery testing enclosure manufactured with polycarbonate panels. Our portable battery enclosures are designed to contain explosive and ballistic failure while allowing the venting of combustion glasses. Their clear polycarbonate panels allow for observing and filming the testing procedures.
If you are international, please click this. The MSK-BS058 Explosion-Proof Steel Box provides a safe enclosure chamber for over-charging and forced-discharging of all kinds of battery cells required by the UN38.3 standard (38.3.4.7 & 38.3.4.8), as well as for MTI high-pressure vessel.
It is possible to charge batteries while safely stored inside the box. This is done by using our LithiumSafe™ Cable Entry Plug. This is a 240 minute fire-resistant certified plug that prevents fire penetration via the charging cable in case of thermal runaway. The cable of a power distribution unit is fed through the Cable Entry Plug.
As primary containment enclosures, we integrate heat and fire shield panels and a thermally isolated steel table to minimize the heat transmitted to the rest of the enclosure and environment. Our lithium-ion battery test chambers act as a secondary containment if you’re unsure of the battery sizes or types that might be tested.
The model box used is the "XL" (LSBX0155) and the total capacity/energy of the battery pack is 7000 Wh (7 kWh). Never before has a fire containment system been successfully tested to contain such a high energy load. Visit our other Battery Box website for more information !
The box has a double wall, bottom and lid. Lightweight, advanced high-temperature insulation is applied between the aluminium. These insulation materials have an impressively low thermal conductivity coefficient, even at high temperatures up to 1400 C. This allows high temperatures to be strongly reduced with minimal material thickness.
