Solar panel voltage is one of the best energy production solutions by monitoring and regulating the voltage produced. In this paper, IoT technology was applied for the solar system for a smart street light system that aims to reduce the energy consumption of street lighting by using a controller in sleep mode.
In , an IoT-based automatic street light management system aims to save energy by eliminating resources and workforce waste. An external DHT11 temperature–humidity sensor is included in this system.
The basic work of the solar street lights system can be known by the following flow diagram shown in Fig. 2. The battery gets charged from the solar panel and gives the power supply to the system. ESP32 is programmed to get the data from the battery and solar voltage and compare it periodically.
The work in provides an intelligent system for efficient monitoring of street light intensity. The system is automatically turned ON/OFF based on the traffic measured by the sensors. In , a street light control system that is smart will equally turn lights, monitor voltage by the degree of brightness and run the lower voltage at night.
The solution provides measurement, control, monitoring, and energy savings for public lighting. This Street Lights System involves three main devices: Gateway, Operating and Monitoring Device, and Illumination Level Device. Moreover, the control of lighting level is dynamically ensured by the Street Lights Regulation (SLR) algorithm.
In another study , the authors present a smart street lighting system in which a conventional street light is modified to obtain its solar energy power. In , an IoT-based automatic street light management system aims to save energy by eliminating resources and workforce waste.
