For more information, see the Minimal VE.Bus firmware chapter. Connect the battery positive via the red power cable with the fuse to the BMS "Battery+" terminal. Connect the VE.Bus port of the Inverter/charger or inverter to the "MultiPlus/Quattro" port of the BMS using the included RJ45 cable.
Make sure the M8 nuts of the fuse are tight (mounting torque: 10 NM). Daisy chain the battery control cables between the lithium batteries and connect the ends to the BMS port. To extend the communication cables between a Lithium Battery Smart and the BMS, use the M8 circular connector Male/Female 3 pole cable extensions.
The battery communicates these alarms to the BMS via its BMS cables. The BMS receives an alarm signal from a battery cell If the system contains multiple batteries, all battery BMS cables are connected in series (daisy chained). The first and the last BMS cable is connected to the BMS.
Disconnect the cabling from the minus pole of the starter battery. Pull off the remote on/off connector to prevent unwanted switching of the Smart BMS. Install and connect fuses and all electrical wiring, leaving the negative poles of the lithium batteries and the starter battery disconnected.
Verify that individual cell voltages are within the manufacturer's specified range. Charging Test: Begin charging the battery pack and monitor the BMS operation. Discharging Test: Connect a load to the battery pack and observe the discharge process. Balance Test: Ensure the BMS balances the cell voltages during charging.
Basic installation Connect the battery BMS cables to the BMS. For multiple batteries, see the Battery BMS cable connections chapter. Be sure to read and follow the installation instructions in the Lithium Battery Smart manual. Connect the inverter/charger or inverter positive and negative cables to the battery.
