Make sure you’re turning the switch fully to the “Off” position and then to the “On” position to reset the breaker. Most breakers will make a clicking sound once you’ve done either of those two steps and may require extra pressure to set properly. Didn’t hear them?
If the breaker does not reset for you after you have removed the appliances from the circuit you will need to contact a qualified electrician.
Chances are, the main circuit breaker won’t reset because there’s already a problem (e.g. faulty wiring, open ground, or short circuits) with the house lines. Most of these are common AC circuit breaker problems if that happens to be what you’re specifically dealing with.
Look for the cause of the detected fault. Inspect and, if necessary, repair the downstream equipment. Inspect the equipment in the event of a short-circuit trip. Reset the circuit breaker by turning the rotary handle counterclockwise from the Trip position to O (OFF). Close the circuit breaker by turning the rotary handle clockwise to I (ON).
A circuit breaker, an essential component in modern homes, safeguards your electrical system. It’s designed to automatically shut off power when it detects a fault, such as an overload or short circuit, to prevent damage or fire.
o To open the circuit breaker, turn the rotary handle counterclockwise from the I (ON) position to the O (OFF) position. The circuit breaker has tripped on electrical fault, the rotary handle has moved from the I (ON) position to the Trip position.
