You must recycle these household batteries at dedicated battery collection points.
All of our shops and superstores have battery recycling collection points available, usually near the door or till area. If you can't see it in store, just ask a member of our team. How does recycling batteries help?
Simply take your old batteries, and dispose of them in the bins provided when doing your weekly shopping. It’s easy, it’s quick and it’s free. Battery recycling bins are ususally found near the main entrances or exits of their stores. If you can’t find it on entry, ask a member of staff and they’ll point you in the right direction.
From February 2010, shops selling more than 32kg of batteries a year (approx 345 x four-packs of AA batteries) have to provide battery recycling collection bins in store. This means there are now lots more places where you can take your old batteries for recycling.
We can accept most used household batteries, from coin batteries found in watches and hearing aids, to larger 6V 'Lantern' batteries. Please wrap a piece of sticky tape around coin batteries before recycling them. We're sorry, but we are unable to accept other types of battery.
