NOTE: System ROM and firmware messages might display "energy pack" in place of "Smart Storage Battery." Energy pack refers to both HPE Smart Storage batteries and HPE Smart Storage Hybrid capacitors. Make sure that a supported Smart Array P-class Gen10 controller is installed. The installation is complete.
Action 1. Use iLO to verify that the HPE Smart Storage battery is charged, and that the charge is sufficient to enable caching 2. Verify that the cache module is seated properly. Page 151 Hard parity error detected while reading data from posted-writes memory.
856 - The cache for Smart Array P440 in Slot 4 is disabled due to a cable error from the Smart Storage Battery. We have replaced the battery which also has a new cable. We’ve left it for multiple days now to see if it’s the charge but the error remains.
While you're at it, check the Smart Array controller itself. It could be the P440ar in these servers. If they have this model, then it's the mezzanine card towards the rear of the server in front of the riser cages. It had tons of firmware issues over its life cycle, resulting in unstable operation or even bricking the controller.

The charging message may persist for a while, and isn’t concerning with a recently installed battery. Be sure the new battery is a v2, 878643-001 with blue caps, the green ones have multiple issues including the cable error. Hi Dan
